Giving Is An Art

We believe in the life-changing, awe-inspiring fulfillment of great performances. Your support of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic opens the door to extraordinary music — concerts that inspire the imagination, enrich the soul, and bring people together.

This year, your gift to the Philharmonic may go even further through the NextGen Challenge

The Estate of Kathleen Fox Collins will match all new or increased gifts with up to $100,000 to the Philharmonic’s Permanent Endowment.  Every new or increased gift to the general fund will be doubled.  It’s a tribute to Kathleen — for her belief that our best days are yet to come.

Your gift through Colorado Gives will be added to this challenge!

Mission

The Colorado Springs Philharmonic's mission is to inspire and engage the people of our community and our region through exceptional orchestral performances honoring classical greatness, encouraging lifelong creative discovery, and celebrating the human spirit and experience.

Background Statement

Founded in 1927, the Colorado Springs Philharmonic is the largest, independent arts and cultural organization in southern Colorado. As a prominent cultural leader in the Pikes Peak region, the Philharmonic is responsible for enhancing the lives of community members. This responsibility expands beyond the great musical performances expected of the Philharmonic and includes building social awareness, connecting community partners, challenging artistic boundaries, as well as providing education and outreach opportunities.

The Philharmonic hosts many programs crucial to creating an enduring arts and culture presence in the Pikes Peak region. Today’s Philharmonic reaches more than 250,000 people each year and makes an economic impact of more than $7.7 million annually. That is more than $1,800 per minute of music performed. An average of 42% of people reached each year are served free of charge. The Philharmonic gives over $500,000 back to the community each season through education and outreach programs. Setting an example in the community of a prosperous, yet artistically minded symphony, the Philharmonic’s earned revenue comprises 60% of budget income.

Under the guidance of President and CEO Nathan Newbrough, the Colorado Springs Philharmonic has become one of the most successful symphony orchestras among midsize cities nationwide. The Philharmonic comprises 71 nationally auditioned musicians, 2 prestigious conductors, 14 administrative staff members, an executive board of 25, and 140 volunteers driven by their passion for great music and positive impact on the community.

For the 2022-23 season, the Philharmonic will present 41 performances of 21 unique concerts. The primary series include El Pomar Foundation Masterworks, Centura Philharmonic Pops, and the Al and Leigh Buettner Signature Series. The Philharmonic holiday concerts are Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker presented by Children’s Hospital Colorado, Christmas Symphony, New Year’s Eve, and the Star-Spangled Symphony, a free community concert on the fourth of July.
